*Square Up your Backing! If your backing is not squared up it will leave an uneven slack in your backing. Which could cause creases, tucks or overlapping of fabric.
*Avoid fabric that have heavy sizing. Fabrics such as these will cause thread breaking or fraying, knot's or loops on the back, skipped stitches or a transfer of fabric dye to either the front or back of your quilt.
*applying borders correctly
*choose 108" backing instead of 44" wide fabric - Saves time on piecing and save over half the cost on fabric, and you may not need to square up
*sew all unopened seams - this could cause the machine foot to get caught in your quilt top.
*avoid large clusters of seams which can cause needle breakage
*launder tone on tone fabrics before piecing
*use a good quality adhesive, and no glue
